Route description: Drive towards Bullmark, turn left to Gravmark. After Gravmark there is a sign to Krokbäcksfallet.
Emptying the salmon ladder at the Krokbäcksfallet waterfall
In past times, the Sävarån river was used for log-driving but in Krokbäck there is now a fine salmon ladder which helps the continued existence of salmon. The ladder was ready for use in 1998. It is fixed in place in the Krokbäcksfallet waterfall, one of the mightiest falls in the Sävarån river with erosion precipices up to 22 meters high. Near the waterfall, there are fine picnic areas, places to make open fires and areas for caravans. In July, the ladder is emptied every day at 18.00. There are plans to build an aquarium with streaming water above the waterfall by the bridge which crosses the river. There is no doubt that the Krokbäcksfallet waterfall is going to become an even bigger attraction than it already is today. So come and visit the waterfall this summer, meet our friendly villagers and enjoy the wonderful countryside. Located on the Sävarån river about 28 km upstream from Sävar.

Note: the ladder is closed from July 2011 due to too high water temperature.
