Address: Time Sävar Umeå

Sävarån’s lower part provides a tranquil paddling for the entire family. The extensive flood plain grasslands is our Swedish counterpart to the jungles of the Amazon. The Lower reaches of the river are a very beautiful and easily negotiated canoe coures.

The trip can start at the bridge over the E4 road in Sävar and ends in the inner archipelago at Skeppsvik. You canoe in smoothly flowing water, at times passing through jungle-like scenery with an abundance of bird and animal life. In this exceptional environment, one finds a great variety and diversity of species.

There is resting place at Gladhällorna, a few km upstream of Skeppsvik. The Skeppsvik Herrgård manor has a restaurant and accommodation.

For those of you who want a bigger challenge, you can seek out the upper parts of Sävarån, where rapids and calm succeed each other. The longest rapids, Långforsen - the Long Rapids - is 1.5 km long.

At the beginning of Sävarån in Lillsävarträsket, there is a wilderness atmosphere that resembles Lapland, and in the upper reaches of the river, both otters and freshwater pearl mussel live.

The battles at Sävar and Ratan against Russian troops in 1809 were the last battles on Swedish soil. A Memorial Monument has been placed on the theatres of war, Sävar and Krutbrånet.

Do some fishing! There is plenty of perch, pike, trout and greyling in the river. You can buy fishing license and rent the canoes at Time in Sävar.
